Sometimes a material can define a space. In this residential landscape, steel does just that. An existing Victorian fountain and planting were removed to make room for the more minimalist project that reflected the client’s aesthetic style. Steel, ledgestone, and sand finish concrete were blended together to create a harmonious space bringing together a backyard around a fountain and vegetable planters.
The main fountain pool and steel rill align to the symmetry of the backdoors and either side of the pool is flanked with Emperor Japanese Maples. A simple stone path takes the viewer from the deck, across the pool and to the vegetable garden in one fluid motion. An existing lawn and deck were preserved in this renovation.
